Tidal Bore

Our location - Glenholme NS

Tidal Bore

As we stayed in Glenholme, NS, a local tourist attraction is the Tidal Bore at Truro.  A tidal bore is a rush of water up a river due to a large tide action.

Tidal Bore The above photos are of the river waiting for the tidal bore.  Note the mud flat is the middle of the river and the height of the river shore.

Like a parade, we came early, put our chairs in a good position and then when the tidal bore came, all the late comers went in front.

When the tidal bore came, is was about a foot high wave. Depending on the moon and wind, is can be much more.

Tidal Bore If you check, you see that the mud flat is covered over. We did not wait but at the end of high tide, the river water would have been up to the grass on the shore.
