For Memorial Day, we traveled
to Bayonne NJ to meet with a fellow BlueStar. Joe Kochanski was in the 48th AHC in
the 1965-1966 time frame with Mark. A highpoint of the trip was going to the Bayonne Memorial to the Viet Nam Loses from Bayonne. Bayonne holds the record, for lack of a better term, of having more causalities per-capita than any other city in the United States. Bayonne was very interesting, encase in the major metropolitan area of New York and Newark, you find a small town just like you would expect in the Midwest. |

It may be a small memorial but the impact of the number of names in stone for a small town like Bayonne is significant.
The ceremony included the reading of each name on the Memorial and the posting of a flag with a salute.
The group at the ceremony was not huge but it included many local residents who cared.

The local VFW that Joe belongs to has this gem of a museum of war memorabilia.
