Our location - Ely, NVEly Railroad Museum |

We stopped in Ely just as a stopover. We went to the Nevada Northern Railroad Museum to spend a few hours. We wound up spending most of the day. We started with a ride on the Tour Train for about 14 miles out into the mining area around Ely. Unfortunately this was not a weekend day when they use a steam locomotive. After the tour, we had a tour through the operational Engine Shop, Engine House, and the Repair In Place car shop. They work and rebuild the locomotives in the Engine Shop. One thing for sure, tools for locomotives, especially steam locomotives, are large. This was a day well spent as out tour guide, Bob, was very informative. |
