We made a short trip back to South Dakota to take care of a legal matter.  As we waited for our appointment in a small reception area of the law office, we overheard a poignant conversation.  A woman was talking about her son, a member of Charlie Battery 147, a National Guard unit from Yankton, SD.  Charlie Battery was scheduled to return home from Iraq the next day.  She related that her son did not go with his unit because at the time his wife was in the middle of a very difficult pregnancy.  The unit went to Iraq without him.  The guy who went in his place did not make it back and he is having a hard time dealing with that fact.  We thought, "What remarkable young people we have in this country!"  And we are grateful that they have stepped up to defend us!

As we drove through Yankton, SD on Friday we noticed the abundance of yellow ribbons...and every business who had a sign board, posted a message welcoming Charlie Battery 147 home!
