We have a pretty large “basement” (cargo compartment). For ease of storing items and to maximize space usage, we acquired a set of Rubbermaid Roughneck storage tubs. We choose the sizes to fit the space. We used a drafting tool to layout a floor plan for the cargo compartment to maximize floor space and vertical space usage. We also acquired some smaller clear storage boxes for small items and to fill in the cargo bay space. We used permanent marking Sharpies and stencils to label each tub on the front, side and top cover. We used a number sequence that locates the tub in the cargo compartment by floor and tier locations. We inventoried the items we put into each tub and entered the data in a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet is laid out such that one page shows all the items we have in the cargo compartment and what tub they are in. We keep a current printout in the cargo compartment. We used tubs in Red Rover's storage compartments but they are not labeled. All the stuff in Red Rover is Mark’s and he can keep track of what is where. |
