A wall clock is a common accessory for a RV. We wanted one that would use radio signals to keep accurate time. We acquired La Crosse Technology WS-8157U-A Digital Wall Clock that also has inside/outside temperature readings. We find the temperature reading handy for making decisions on heating, cooling, and outside protection measures. We first mounted the outside temperature sensor on the curbside wall between the awning track and the living room slide. The awning track provides protection for the sensor. Sometimes this location places the sensor in direct sunlight. This gives us higher outside temperature readings. We thought about locating it under the gooseneck that would have provided shading. However, we felt that location would have left the sensor exposed to being hit. The problem with the sensor in the sunlight was solved when we moved the sensor to under the main slide. It turns out that the "outdoor" sensor was not weatherproof and rain ruined the first sensor. Moving the sensor under the slide solved the sunlight and the rain problem. |
