Red Rover had a couple of spots where the
paint was peeling, and we had a couple of scrape spots to be repaired.
So
we planned to visit Wayland Long of
2L Custom Trucks to get a quote.
Wayland had painted a truck for a friend of ours, and we liked the
outcome. Dale decided we should also consider repainting the
whole truck a different color as an option. By the time we got
to Wayland's, the only option was a color change. Originally, we thought we could come up with a two tone combination using the original Volvo Red and the Bright Platinum color used on Tige. After some photo-shopping we decided that using the Bright Platinum color on the whole truck with a few accents would be the color plan. One of the accent colors will be the red that matches our Equinox. A few weeks after we returned to Retama, Mark emptied Red Rover, and with friend Daryl, hooked up the Equinox and took Red Rover to Wayland's in Poolville, TX, a little northwest of Fort Worth. Red Rover sat in the facility at Wayland's until the Texas cold season passed. Yes, the truck name will remain Red Rover. He is just getting gray like Mark. |

The project was slowed down for the cold months. After a couple of months as the weather improved, the project restarted. The removed fairing pieces brought into the paint room for final prep. |

The silver grey color is being applied to the removed fairing pieces. The first photo doesn't look silver grey, but it is the lighting. The color is more apparent in the visor on the right. |

Richard is painting the condo-cap. There is too much cab surface to paint
the whole cab in
one pass. The Volvo condo cab has a convenient break. The haze is from the paint dust. |

Looking good. | ||
The bed is being altered. The stake pocket and rub rail, which seemed like a good
idea at the time, are being removed. The pockets would hold paint and were
prone to rusting. The whole bed and the rear apron are being covered with bed liner. It works better with all the weld seams. |

The rear apron is being repaired. We had an event where bring
too tired, Mark didn't have the trailer pin fully engaged when we
were at Grand Rapids. The trailer pin slide out of the hitch
but was snagged by the rear apron. The resultant dent was too
large to pound back into shape. A new panel holds the wide vehicle lights now. |

The fairings are back on and the paint job is almost done There are some finishing touches like the headache rack cabinet. |

Red Rover is done. The bed had the rub rails and stake pockets removed. The whole bed was covered with bed liner unlike before where only the top surface was covered. The headache rack cabinet was also covered with bed liner as its surfaces had seen too much time in the elements. We think it compliments the platinum grey color. |

The new platinum color and trim . The results look really good. |
