Dell FX160

The TX3 computer did its job for 5 years but it was getting old.  The CMOS battery no longer worked and we had to set the Date/Time each time we powered on. The motherboard acquired a problem that would power the computer off when a LAN cable was inserted into the LAN port.

The TCX3 USB ports were only USB1 which would not support a USB VGA Adapter which we wanted to use to solve the problems we were having with the Powered VGA Splitter.  And it didn't do a good job of supporting the USB Wi-Fi Adapter we used.

The Intel Atom processor has led to a new set of small profile computers that was very rare when we first bought the TX3.

Navigation Computer The TX3 has cable connections on three sides of the box.  The Dell has most of the connections in the back of the box.

Unfortunately, the earphone jack is on the front.
Navigation Computer The TX3 was 5.5"w x 6"l x 2.5"h.  The Dell FX160 is 8.75"w x 9"l x 2"h.  The Dell FX160 fits well in the same space that the TX3 occupied.

The Dell FX160 doesn't have a built-in DVD Player so we will be using an External DVD player that plugs into the front USB ports.
