Newly released portable dome unit satellite TV dishes are now
available. Basically the manufacturers have taken their highly success
roof dome dishes and repackaged them to be in an enclosed module. These domes can be permanently mounted on a vehicle, like an semi-tractor truck. Or they can be placed on the ground. This is an advantage of the portable domes over fixed mounted roof dishes. With extra cable, the portable dome dishes can be placed where a clear line-of-sight to the satellite can be accomplished. This is sometime difficult with the fixed mounted roof dish when the tress are in the way. The coax signal cable extension is easy. The extension of the power cable may take some extra work. These portable domes are just like the roof domes and only have a single LNBF which has two LNBs and can drive two coax signal cables. This means they can only lock onto one satellite at a time but they can select different channels from that satellite. |
